Message from the Grand Knights

Worthy Brothers, January has been like a “blink of the eye” gone like a
wind storm of trying to make connections for our supposed “Vaccine Shots’
and trying to traverse the internet and at least get on some waiting list.
PLEASE know that you are not alone and every effort by myself and other
Council members to have you receive the medication is still being
addressed. Past Grand Knight David Cruz has helped several in at least
getting on a list to be called. Either give Dave or myself a call and we will
give you the phone numbers of offices you may not have had before. MANY of our Parishioners do not have access to the internet and therefore these phone numbers are vital to getting them registered.

Call PGK David Cruz, 727-457-8522 or me, 727 534 7949. If you do not receive an answer, please leave a message with your name and phone number.

I can tell you that the information we have and the locations we have are booked but at least you will get on a list somewhere. God bless us all and PRAY for an end to this madness. BTW the Council is proceeding nicely despite pandemic challenges thanks to great leadership of our directors.
Please see Brother Dr. Bill Shustowski, Deputy Grand Knight on the movements of YOUR Council. Please see and let me know of any areas of the Knights of Columbus and our Council you would like to be involved in. WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Fraternally,
Joseph LaGuardia
Grand Knight,
Council 11680

Pray to end Abortion

MARY QUEEN OF THE KNIGHTS
Our Lady Queen of the Knights blesses all the activities of our order.
Keep us true to the pledge, to extend the Knight ship of your Divine Son
on earth, through your intercession win for us your grace, ever to
exemplify in our public and private lives, the virtues which should
characterize those, specially dedicated to the service of the heavenly
court. Make us always pray to end abortion

O Mary, bright dawn of the new world, Mother of the living, to you do we entrust the cause of life: Look down, O Mother, upon the vast numbers of babies not allowed to be born, of the poor. O Mary, bright dawn of the new world, Mother of the living, to you do we entrust the cause of life: Look down, O Mother, upon the vast numbers of babies not allowed to be born, of the poor whose lives are made difficult, of men and women who are victims of brutal violence, of the elderly and the sick killed by indifference or out of misguided mercy. Grant that all who believe in your Son may proclaim the Gospel of life with honesty and love to the people of our time. Obtain for them the grace to accept that Gospel as a gift ever new, the joy of celebrating it with gratitude throughout their lives and the courage to bear witness to it resolutely, in order to build, together with all people of good will, the civilization of truth and love, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life. Amen ______________________________________________________________________________

Prayer for Vocations
Heavenly Father, Your divine Son taught us to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send Laborers into His vineyard. We earnestly beg you to bless our Diocese and our world with many priests and religious who will love you fervently, and gladly and courageously spend their lives in service to Your Son’s Church under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We pray that lives may be always centered on our Eucharistic Lord which they may be devoted sons and daughters of Mary, our mother, in making you known and loved that all may attain Heaven. Bless our families and our children and choose from our homes those whom you desire for this holy work. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen

Sick and Distressed
Prayers requested for the following Brothers and members and their families;
George Mountford, Doris Hill, Clark Hill, John Barry, Richard Overbeck, Claire Ostrander, Arthur Ostrander
(If you know of anyone that needs our prayers please email me at;

PRAYER FOR THE SICK
Father of goodness and love; hear our prayers for the sick members of our community and for all who are in need. Amid mental and physical suffering may they find consolation in your healing presence? Show your mercy as you close wounds, cure illness, make broken bodies whole and free downcast spirits. May these special people find lasting health and deliverance, and so join us in thanking you for all your gifts. We ask
this through the Lord Jesus who healed those who believed. AMEN

Brothers, Just spoke with our brother and Past Grand Knight John Barry who has been in the Covid unit at Trinity Hospital for over a week now. He is on a ventilator at 80 percent and cannot breathe on his own. John sounded good but with one lung gone, it is difficult for him to maintain the necessary level of oxygen. Please keep John and his family in your prayers.
Fraternally,
Joe LaGuardia
Grand Knight

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS INSURANCE

February Greetings
Love is in the air! During the month of February and especially around Valentine’s Day, we spend a lot of time thinking about our loved ones. We do much more than think about loved ones; we give flowers and chocolates and send greeting cards. Why all the fuss? To show our love, of course! But have you ever considered that you should Insure Your Love? That’s really what insurance is all about. People buy insurance because they love someone. I bought life insurance because I love my wife and children. I don’t want them to experience a lack of money if I’m not here to provide for them. I want to make sure they can stay in the same home we love; I want to make sure that my children will have the college education they will need; I want to ensure that my daughter will have the wedding she’s always dreamed of; I want my family to continue to live the lifestyle I’ve been so fortunate to be able to provide. My policy even has living benefits that I can
enjoy!
In addition to life insurance the Knights of Columbus offers Disability Income Insurance, Long Term Care
Insurance and Retirement Annuities. All of these help Insure Your Love. If I can’t work because of illness or injury, my disability income insurance will provide for the necessities until I can work again; my long term care
insurance will help me stay in my home or go to a nursing home and get the care I need without being a financial burden to my family; my retirement annuities will help my wife and me enjoy our golden years. All these products have helped me insure my love.
Let me suggest to you to buy that box of chocolates, get a beautiful arrangement of flowers or a dozen roses and include a card; but then sit down with me and with your wife and let me show you how you can Insure Your Love.

FAITH IN ACTION
February 2021 Newsletter
By William J. Shustowski, Jr., Deputy Grand Knight

COMMUNITY: After a several year absence, we once again hosted the Free Throw Championship for youth 9-14 on January 17th. Although attendance was small, we were encouraged by the enthusiasm of the participants and will identify adjustments that should be made for future events. A big thank you to Brother Steve Early and his volunteer team.

Our recently re-instituted bi-monthly Blood Drive was held on January 17th with 10+ individuals volunteering to give blood. Please remember to thank Brother Dick Palladino for his leadership and commitment to growing this ministry to our pre-Covid numbers.

Please continue saving “Pop Tabs” and placing them in the Knight’s Box by the Narthex (South) Entrance to the Church. Under the leadership of Brother Tony Mortella, we have collected almost 50 pounds which has
helped to secure several wheel chairs. We still need your Pop Tabs to continue this important ministry.

FAMILY: Ms. Vera Koehnke, Director of Our Lady Queen of Peace St. Vincent DePaul Society spoke at our Social/Activity meeting on January 21st. She outlined for us the various projects that they are involved with focusing on meeting the needs of our less fortunate brothers and sisters. She also reported that they have been able to increase from 100 to 150 per week their “Pack-A-Sack” meal package for “food depraved children.” Please keep Fridays from 7:45 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. for volunteering your time to help prepare the meal sacks.

LIFE: Once again, our COMMITMENT TO LIFE was demonstrated by our participation in the recent 9 Day Novena for Life ending with Mass on Friday, January 22nd Celebrating our 25th Anniversary as Council 11680.
Thank you, Brother Tom Sipera.

LENT begins on Ash Wednesday, February17. As we prepare to renew and recommit ourselves to Jesus Christ, we are looking for a couple of Brothers to chair one of the following activities: Rosary; Holy Hour; or Good Friday. Please contact Brother Bill Shustowski at 727-494-7975 for further information about leading one of these programs.

Membership: Please welcome our newest Brother Knight Robert Lauro who transferred from Colorado.
Remember to prayerfully invite someone you see at Mass to become a Knight.
